NLRB Objection Hearing on Louisville Trader Joe’s Union Vote Reconvenes March 30

The National Labor Relations Board hearing to determine the fate of the Louisville Trader Joe’s union election results will reconvene on Thursday, March 30 on Zoom (link below). The hearing began last week on March 20, but was postponed after its first day due to unforeseen circumstances.

On January 26, 2023, crew members at the Louisville Trader Joe’s voted 48-36 to join Trader Joe’s United, making Louisville the third store to vote to join the independent union founded last year.

One week after the vote, Trader Joe’s filed several objections to the election with the NLRB, claiming union supporters created “an atmosphere of fear and coercion and interfered with the laboratory conditions necessary to conduct a free and fair election.” At an undetermined time after the hearing’s conclusion, the NLRB will rule on these objections.

The hearing will begin at 10 am on Thursday March 30 on Zoom. Press and the public are encouraged to attend, and asked to join the hearing between 9:30 and 10 am. The hearing will continue on a day-by-day basis until complete.

“We are a worker-led movement that solidly won our election,” said Connor Hovey, a crew member and organizer at the Louisville store. “We want to make it known that baseless objections brought forth by the company will not stop us from banding together to advocate for ourselves.”
