Trader Joe’s Workers in Louisville, KY Vote to Join Union

In a 48-36 vote, workers at Trader Joe’s #628 in Louisville, KY have voted to join Trader Joe’s United, an independent union of Trader Joe’s workers.

Despite documented anti-union activity from management, workers at the Louisville location are celebrating a solid victory tonight.

“The main takeaway from this union drive is that we will never let divisiveness win. This is a mass step in the right direction for not only our store, but for the company as a whole,” said Connor Hovey, an employee and organizer at the Louisville Trader Joe’s. “We are very excited to bring our concerns to the bargaining table, with the hopes that Trader Joe’s will have the best intentions while we bargain for our first contract.”

The Louisville store will join the two other Trader Joe’s locations that make up Trader Joe’s United at the bargaining table. Next bargaining dates for the union and employer are January 31st and February 1st in Northampton, MA.

Trader Joe’s United is a new organization unaffiliated with an established labor union. In July of 2022 workers at the Hadley, MA location won their union election 45-31, becoming the company’s first unionized store. The Minneapolis store joined the TJU in a landslide 55-5 victory just two weeks later.
